NEWSLETTER #95 S'up? Nothin? Sounds about right for this time of year, the gray cold days between New Year's and the joyous right of spring called Easter. Not to mention tax day! Man, I wish there was some event that could jolt us out of our collective funks and spur us into unbridled fits of happiness. What, the Winter Olympics are over? Well, I guess that only leaves us with one choice. Drink. Drink again. The name of the game is "Drink". And, what's the biggest drinking day of the year? Of course, St. Patrick's Day, a celebration of when some old Irish dude chased out a bunch of snakes by dousing them with green beer. Or threw potatoes at them. Or played a flute. Whatever. Drink just for thinking I might be wrong about this. So, getting back to my swollen liver, the biggest, bawdiest, St. Paddy's Day party in all of Virginia, if not the world, takes place Saturday night at SinE Irish Pub as they close down the streets (since drunks make poor speed bumps), put up a couple of tents to keep out the gray, cold, funk, and then bribe a few bands to keep the stage warm until those noble warriors of yore, who've been rocking longer than granite, who ignore the fact that this sentence has been running on forever, finally find a period and take the stage. Of course, you exclaim! The rumors are true! The band hasn't broken up or metamorphosed into a sine wave! WONDERGROUND STILL ROCKS! So, run, crawl, slither, roll, skip, stumble, or dance over to SinE on Saturday March 18th around 5, and be prepared to stay till you can't see. The boys will appear around 7, or as soon as Jamey wakes up from his nap. More details to follow next week! WONDERGROUND! 3/12/2006 |
